Inspire Girls – Nigeria: Expanding Access, Building Confidence in Tech

The Inspire Girls Initiative was created to address the limited access many girls have to digital skills, creative tools, and early exposure to technology. By offering hands-on learning experiences, the program aims to build confidence, spark curiosity, and empower girls to see themselves as creators not consumers of technology.

From June to December 2025, Cohort 3 in Nigeria brought together 30 girls for a six-month learning journey that combined creativity, technical skill-building, and mentorship. The programbegan with Canva, where participants developed foundational digital literacy and explored visual design. They then moved into video editing with CapCut, learning how to tell stories through short videos and digital media. In the final phase, the girls transitioned into HTML and CSS coding, building their first websites and gaining an introduction to web development.

This progression was intentionally designed to support confidence building. Starting with accessible creative tools helped participants become comfortable using technology before moving into more technical concepts. Throughout the program, weekly mentor-led meetups created space for collaboration, feedback, and peer support, strengthening both technical and interpersonal skills.

The transformation over six months was clear. Many girls who began the program feeling unsure of their abilities grew into confident learners, actively asking questions and proudly presenting their projects. Several HTML and CSS mini-projects and video edits stood out for their creativity, structure, and attention to detail, reflecting the participants’ growth and dedication.

The graduation was held on January 3, 2026. This milestone celebrated the girls’ hard work, resilience, and progress. Looking ahead, the Inspire Girls Initiative plans to continue supporting participants through an alumni network, mentorship, and access to learning opportunities, helping these young women continue exploring technology and shaping their futures.
