How do I donate computers?
If there is a WCE Chapter near you, you can contact them directly and arrange a time to drop off your donation. Some Chapters have volunteers who can pick up donations of 8 computers or more.
If there is not a WCE Chapter near you, you can mail your donation to our Boston Chapter at World Computer Exchange, 936 Nantasket Avenue, Hull, MA 02045. We will send you a tax receipt.

What kinds of donations you accept?
We accept a variety of technology apparatuses, only if they are working:
- i Series desktops (Washington/Baltimore Chapter accepts only small form factors)
- Dual Core and i Series laptops (with their power adapters)
- Tablets and eReaders with chargers (please unlock & de-register)
- Smart phones with chargers (please unlock & de-register)
- Flat screen monitors (only 17″, 19″, and 21″)
- USB keyboards with wires (English, French, and Spanish)
- USB mice with wires, cables and power cords
- Digital projectors
- Webcams, digital cameras, and camcorders
- Scanners with cables and software
- Network switches, routers, and hubs
- EtherNet cables
- Digital microscopes for school computer labs
- Microphones and earphones
- RAM for laptops and desktops (minimum 2 gigs
- DVD drives (internal and external)
- Hard drives for laptops or desktops (above 100 gigs)
- USB thumb drives and USB hub/multi ports
- Graphing calculators
- NO printers – they do not travel well
Our Boston Chapter is the only one that accepts Apple devices such as desktops and laptops under 6-years-old. We also seek iPads.
How can I tell if my computer is i Series?
There is usually a small sticker under the laptop keyboard or on the bottom right of a desktop face that says “i3”, “i5”, or “i7.”
Processors after Dual Core are also accepted, including ones in the Intel Family (Core 2 QuadCore, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7) and AMD family (AMD 64bit, AMD Athlon 64 and 64 x2, AMD Phenon, AMD A4, A6, A8, A 10).

What if my donation is not on this list?
Unfortunately, if your donation is older and not on this list, WCE cannot accept it. Even if you cannot find another home for it, please dispose of it properly rather than placing it in the trash.
Many municipalities now have computer recycling programs that recover valuable metals, keeping many toxic metals out of landfills. There is often a small charge for proper disposal. Contact your local recycling coordinator or Department of Public Works for more information on recycling e-waste.
