Finalist Top 50 educator: Misheck Mutuzana

We’re proud to celebrate Misheck, a dedicated educator and leader in World Computer Exchange supported programs, who has been named one of the Top 50 finalists for the 2026 GEMS Education Global Teacher Prize, an initiative of the Varkey Foundation in collaboration with UNESCO.

This prestigious international award recognizes exceptional teachers who are transforming lives through education, innovation, and community impact. Misheck’s selection highlights the powerful role educators play in expanding access to opportunity. Through his leadership, the Inspire Girls Coding Bootcamps in Zambia have grown dramatically from 75 girls in 2023 to over 1,000 girls in the current session, with participants now representing every province in Zambia. The program equips girls with coding, digital literacy, and problem-solving skills while building confidence and leadership.

Graduates of the program have shown improved academic performance, and many have gone on to further education after completing secondary school, opening pathways that were previously out of reach.

Misheck’s recognition is not only a personal achievement, but it reflects the collective impact of educators, partners, and organizations working together to close the digital divide and empower the next generation of girls.
