WCE-Puerto Rico is working in several pilot schools to strengthen our 5 Services for Latin American schools.
Content: Working with grad students at University of Puerto Rico to expand our educational Content Pack in Spanish. We are hoping to work with iEARN-Puerto Rico to roll out some of our WCE Content Pack in Spanish to other Latin countries.
Inspire Girls: Working with some of these same 15 grad students to develop one or two of the C4G teacher Tools in Spanish
Computers: Delivering computers, content, greater internet, business tech volunteers, and requested software in exchange for student help on gathering more educational content for our Content Project in Spanish and small programs to inspire girls to pursue careers in technology.
Youth Tech Leadership: Piloting student-led WCE refurbishing and training Chapters in some of these pilot schools. Part of this will be reinforced by career counselors from Kinesis Foundation.
Capacity Building: Working to recruit tech volunteers from universities and businesses to go into our pilot schools to help with teacher training. We will probably have some of our Chapter volunteers come to help orient the student leaders in our methodology in setting up a Chapter and refurbishing computers. Recruitment is being assisted by the 20/22 Act Society.
Working with college campuses and business associations to pilot computational thinking curriculum in many schools – with plan to ramp up over years.
We would also like to move into planning about appropriate disposal of ewaste – which is something we are working on in Zimbabwe and we did some work on in Bolivia.
