WCE is delighted that Jane Peters has agreed to be the WCE Field Associate for Sierra Leone. She is the Country Coordinator for WCE strategic ally, iEARN-Sierra Leone. WCE has previously shipped computers to iEARN-Sierra Leone.
World Computer Exchange is interested in sending our third shipmentto Sierra Leone. The computers are preloaded with English versions of Linux Xubuntu operating system, Libre/Office suite, Edubuntu, and our content pack including education, agriculture, health, technology and environment. WCE has heard interest from 78 groups in Sierra Leone. WCE is looking for a corporate Sponsor to help fund our third shipment to Sierra Leone to reduce the match paid by our Partners. Previously our two shipments totaled 236 computers to connect 8 schools in Sierra Leone with 2,000 students. WCE worked closely on one of the shipments with the Salesian Missions. iEARN-Sierra Leone, lead by Jane Peters, is a recipient of WCE computers and we have communicated about their providing teachers at recipient schools with teacher training in computer use, the use of the operating system and the educational use of the internet through multi-country online experiential learning projects. We have done this in 10 other countries. WCE is interested in working with schools and communities assisted by Peace Corps Volunteers in Sierra Leone as we have in 16 other countries. Jane Peters is our Field Associate in Sierra Leone. WCE Development Officers for Sierra Leone: Janet Auman, Lofen Keneah, Max Ramos and Marc Schaeffer.
